Detention is an atmospheric horror game distinguished by its cultural influences rooted in Taiwanese and broader East Asian traditions, notably Taoism and Buddhism. Set against the backdrop of 1960s Taiwan under martial law, the game explores themes of spiritual and supernatural elements reflective of the region's folklore and beliefs.

Utilizing a straightforward point-and-click interface, players assume control of characters navigating a school haunted by malevolent supernatural forces. Their objective is to uncover the stories intertwined with this eerie setting.

The incorporation of religious motifs and mythological references from Taiwanese and Chinese culture offers players an immersive experience characterized by visual artistry and atmospheric depth. The title is notable for its distinct graphics and evocative storytelling.
